Learning how to do your makeup is such a beautiful and fun process, but it can be really frustrating if you don’t know what to buy and how to use the products you’ve bought.
One of the most difficult parts about learning how to do my makeup was figuring out which brushes I actually needed.
I ended up spending so much money buying a bunch of makeup brushes that were poor quality that had way too many brushes I didn’t need.
After reading this blog post, you’ll know exactly which brushes you need for your starter makeup kit.
This blog post is all about makeup brushes for beginners.
Foundation Brushes are very important in your makeup routine. You use foundation brushes to apply and blend your foundation.
There are many different types of blush brushes. These are the two that I think would be the most helpful as a beginner.
The first blush brush is from cream blushes and powder blushes. I would primarily use this brush to blend out cream and liquid blushes
The second blush brush is for powder brushes.
You need to set your makeup with powder to ensure that it’ll last all day long and to minimize creasing. A setting powder brush is a great way to set the under eyes, t-zone, smile lines, and any other area that attracts a lot of oil and shine.
Powder Brushes serve a similar purpose to setting powder brushes. Powder brushes are used to set your entire face and setting powder brushes are used to set specific parts of your face in a very controlled way.
I apply translucent powder and pressed powder with my powder brush.
Highlighter is a MUST in your makeup routine. I love to use a specific highlighter brush to concentrate the highlighter exactly where I want it.
I also think it’s important to have a dedicated highlighter brush to prevent getting highlighter in areas that you don’t want it.
Imagine setting your powder and getting gold glitter all over your face. Sounds like a disaster.
When you’re first starting out, you only need one or two of these, but as you get more comfortable with makeup you’re going to want a lot more of these.
Fluffy blending brushes are used to help blend out your eyeshadow and apply eyeshadow to your crease and outer V. You need this to create eyeshadow looks.
Flat Eyeshadow Brushes are perfect for applying eyeshadow to your lid. I apply all of my glitter shadows and chunky glitter with a flat eyeshadow brush.
Some people replace the flat eyeshadow brush with their fingers. I personally prefer to use a brush because it’s easier for me to be precise.
Beauty sponges are extremely important in makeup application. I love to use beauty sponges to blend my makeup and make sure everything looks natural.
I highly recommend purchasing a quality beauty sponge. There is a big difference between high quality sponges and poor quality sponges.
I personally prefer to use the Beauty Blender, but if you’re not ready to commit to the cost of a Beauty Blender, I’d recommend checking out the Morphe Sponge or the Real Techniques Sponge
